Golden Guernsey's orginate from the tiny Island of Guernsey to the south of England and were brought over to the UK. These early goats were of poor show quality, and have over recent years been improved by hard work from many people involved in Goldens. They have been inproved by better and harsh breeding - if the goats were not good enough they were not bread from and often shot.
Now they are being more widely reconised in the showing world.

 
Sueara Golden Guernsey Goats
The herd was established in the early 90's by myself, Sara and my Mother, Sue,. The herd is named SUEARA - Sue - Sara(without the "S").

At present the herd consists of 4 female kids, 2 goatlings, 1 2 year old how has not kidded, 5 milkers, 1 buckling and 1 "passenger", Ali who is here until she dies as she is lovely!!!

The herd is shown regually in the summer at local shows, and if the competition is not too good we win!!!
 
Thinking about getting a Golden Guernsey ?
If you are think of getting a Golden Guernsey then you need to be sure that you have the comitment that is need for them. They need to be looked after even when there is 6ft of snow out side and you would prefere to be in beside the fire witha cup of coco. Also the feed, vets and general maintenace bills need to be taken in to consideration, also where they are going to sleep and how you are going to keep them fenced in.
i am not trying to put you off but you need to understand the concequese and responisiblty of having a goat, for instance did you realise that they needed milking twice a day once they have kidded, require concentrates twice a day, grazing with accabilty to 24hrs shelter.
